Description

In today’s rapidly changing workplace environment, with increasing financial pressures, societal expectations, and media attention, there is a heightened focus on how whistleblowing programs can improve corporate governance, provide a safe space for employees, and yield better insights through timely detection.

Starting from 1 January 2022, listed companies in Hong Kong are required, subject to compliance or explanation, to establish an anti-corruption and whistleblowing policy, as well as a system for employees and those dealing with the company to raise concerns about possible improprieties.

The Asia Pacific region has seen several high-profile cases of corporate scandals and corruption, underscoring the need for effective mechanisms to uncover and address misconduct. Consequently, governments across the region are enacting or revising legislation to protect whistleblowers and promote reporting. Deloitte sought to enhance the effectiveness of whistleblowing by launching the inaugural Asia Pacific Conduct Watch survey in 2023.

In this seminar, seasoned speakers from Deloitte, Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre, ICAC, and MinterEllison LLP will cover the key findings of Deloitte’s 2023 Asia Pacific Conduct Watch Survey Report in the following areas, explore the whistleblowing landscape in the workplace, and share their experiences of recent cases and insights relating to whistleblowing:

  • Strategy and culture
  • Policies and procedures
  • Implementation and execution
  • Reporting and monitoring
